Day 2: Acclimatization Hike – Arusha National Park

Full-day acclimatization hike in Arusha National Park. Explore Mount Meru views, Momela Lakes, and diverse wildlife while preparing for the trek.

Day 3: Rongai Gate (1,950m) to Simba Camp (2,625m)

Drive to Rongai Gate on Kilimanjaro’s northern slopes. Trek through montane forest rich in wildlife to Simba Camp on the edge of the moorland.

Day 4: Simba Camp (2,625m) to Kikelewa Camp (3,600m)

Ascend through heathland with panoramic views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Lunch en route at Second Cave, then continue to Kikelewa Camp.

Day 5: Kikelewa Camp (3,600m) to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m)

Steeper climb into the alpine desert zone, arriving at Mawenzi Tarn beneath jagged Mawenzi Peak. Afternoon acclimatization hike optional.
Distance: ~6 km, 4–5 hrs • Elevation gain: ↑ 730 m

Day 6: Mawenzi Tarn (4,330m) to Kibo Hut (4,700m)

Cross the high-altitude Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. Arrive at Kibo Hut for rest and summit night preparations.
Distance: ~9 km, 5–6 hrs • Elevation gain: ↑ 370 m

Day 7: Summit Day – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Down to Horombo Hut (3,720m)

Midnight departure for the summit via Gilman’s Point. Celebrate at Uhuru Peak, then descend to Kibo for rest and onward to Horombo.
Distance: ~15 km, 12–14 hrs • Elevation: ↑ 1,195 m to summit, then ↓ 2,175 m

Day 8: Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Marangu Gate (1,870m) – Return to Arusha

Final descent through rainforest to Marangu Gate. Collect certificates and transfer back to Gran Meliá Arusha for hot showers and a celebratory dinner.

Day 9: Departure or Safari Extension
