Day by day itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Transfer to Arusha

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where our VIP team welcomes you with private transfer to Gran Melia Hotel in Arusha. Enjoy premium amenities, serene gardens, and stunning views of Mount Meru while preparing for your climb.

Day 2: Acclimatization Excursion – Arusha National Park

Spend a day exploring Arusha National Park’s diverse scenery, from crater lakes to Mount Meru slopes. This light hike boosts acclimatization while offering birdwatching and wildlife encounters. Return to Arusha for final gear check and climb briefing.

Day 3: Lemosho Gate (2,100m) to Forest Camp (2,780m)

Drive to Lemosho Gate, register, and begin trekking through lush rainforest. Trails are rich in flora and wildlife like colobus monkeys. Reach Forest Camp for your first night under luxury tents.

Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
Habitation: Rainforest
Elevation Gain: +680m / 2,230 ft
Accommodation: Forest Camp (Mti Mkubwa)

Day 4: Forest Camp (2,780m) to Shira 1 Camp (3,610m)

Ascend out of the forest into heath and moorland zones. Enjoy panoramic views across the Shira Plateau. Afternoon optional acclimatization hikes help prepare for higher elevations.

Day 5: Shira 1 Camp (3,610m) to Moir Camp (3,950m)

Traverse the expansive Shira Plateau with its unique volcanic formations and alpine vegetation. Afternoon acclimatization hike with “climb high, sleep low” strategy. Luxury mess tents and warm bedding ensure full rest.

Elevation Gain: +340m / 1,115 ft

Day 6: Moir Camp (3,950m) to Lava Tower (4,600m) – Barranco Camp (3,900m)

Climb to Lava Tower at 4,600m for lunch, before descending to Barranco Camp. This critical acclimatization day follows “climb high, sleep low.” Stunning views of glaciers and Kibo’s cliffs.

Trekking Time: 6–7 hours
Habitation: Alpine desert
Elevation Gain/Loss: +650m / 2,133 ft, –700m / 2,297 ft
Accommodation: Barranco Camp

Day 7: Barranco Camp (3,900m) to Karanga Camp (3,930m)

Trek up the iconic Barranco Wall, a thrilling but safe scramble, with incredible views over the valley. Gentle rolling terrain leads to Karanga Camp, a vital acclimatization stop before the summit push.

Trekking Time: 4–5 hours
Habitation: Alpine desert
Elevation Gain: +30m / 98 ft
Accommodation: Karanga Camp

Day 8: Karanga Camp (3,930m) to Barafu Camp (4,640m)

A short but steep climb brings you to Barafu, the final base before the summit attempt. Enjoy early dinner and rest in upgraded tents before the midnight ascent.

Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
Habitation: Alpine desert
Elevation Gain: +710m / 2,329 ft
Accommodation: Barafu Camp

Day 9: Barafu (4,640m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Descend to Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Begin summit bid at midnight. Trek past Stella Point (5,756m) to Uhuru Peak at sunrise. Celebrate at Africa’s Roof, then descend via Barafu to Mweka Camp. This is the longest but most rewarding day.

Trekking Time: 12–14 hours
Habitation: Arctic to rainforest
Elevation Gain/Loss: +1,255m / 4,117 ft, –2,795m / 9,170 ft
Accommodation: Mweka Camp

Day 10: Mweka Camp (3,100m) to Mweka Gate (1,640m) – Return to Arusha

Final descent through rainforest to Mweka Gate for certificate celebrations. Private transfer returns you to Gran Melia Hotel for rest and hot showers.
